Design takes top priority for Melissa. She excels at balancing texture and creating dimension, and her experience with texture and colors makes glass come to life. “I love the challenge of designing the unusual and then executing that design in glass,” she says.
She will create an original design or execute a design that a client has provided. Melissa is comfortable working with small and large-scale projects. She has designed domes, etched glass staircases and structural balcony glass—in fact, mechanical analysis is part of the job. She recently designed a glass dome to match an Italian marble inlay for a three-story entry for an Italian villa.
Other recent projects include a saltwater aquarium of glass to replace a real salt water aquarium. And she reproduced Tiffany Wisteria entry windows for a historical craftsman style in San Luis Obispo. Another project involved creating windows to blend with a Frank Lloyd Wright-style home.
She offers sand blast etching, which includes depth carving shading, and will soon offer onsite sand blasting.
Her designs are architecturally pleasing and she seeks to execute a client’s idea while making it compliment the surrounding environment.
Melissa also works on commercial projects and recently created a corporate logo in glass for a large window in San Luis Obispo.
