Nipomo residents chosen from more than 1300 total entrants
SAN LUIS OBISPO, CA—Dream Spaces Home Design Sourcebook, the premier central coast home design resource, awarded Nipomo residents Mary Jacob and Paul Blanco its $35,000 Outdoor Makeover sponsored by Pacific Coast Home & Garden, Mari Landscaping and Idler’s Outdoor Living. Jacob was randomly drawn from more than 1300 contestants who entered on dreamspacesonline.com. She and Blanco are engaged and soon to be married.
“We are ecstatic about the makeover,” says Jacob. “Paul and I have done nothing to the backyard. It’s dirt and weeds, so this is just a dream come true. It’s an early wedding present.”
Jacob and Blanco have several ideas of what to do in the yard. They would like to have it as natural a landscape as possible that will complement their Spanish style house. They are thinking of putting in an organic garden, palm trees, grass with a stone walkway, fountain and outdoor barbecue. They haven’t fully decided on everything and are eager to discuss options with the Dream Spaces Dream Team sponsors.
Pacific Coast Home and Garden, a showcase nursery and indoor/outdoor living retailer in San Luis Obispo, will provide plants, foliage and stone for the makeover. The largest local appliance store, Idler’s Appliances/Outdoor Living, offers barbecue and spa equipment. And Mari Landscaping, based in Paso Robles and owned by Landscape Architect David Brown, will draw up the plans for the finished backyard. Each sponsor will provide the labor necessary to carry out the design and complete the project.
